Public Health Code Violation

Unfortunately, many nursing homes have issues. This might result from stress, frustration, lack of resources, or some other problem. Waterbury Gardens is no different, and an issue that they had in 2017 resulted in a 2018 violation of the Public Health Code that they were fined for.

This violation was the result of a medication error. A resident was on medication and accidentally given too much of it because a nurse added a new dosage without cancelling out the old one. This issue caused the resident to experience an overdose of insulin. This issue caused dizziness that led to the resident falling out of their wheelchair and sustaining a wound on their head.

This issue resulted in a $1,530 fine for Waterbury Gardens for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Choosing a Nursing Home

Before choosing a nursing home in New Haven County, it is important to review information such as this. First, you want to make sure that the facility has the resources to take care of your loved one, and that they offer the services needed. It is also a good idea to watch out for recent violations. While all nursing homes make mistakes, it is up to your family to decide how uncomfortable a Public Health Code violation makes you.
