About The Guilford House

As previously mentioned, The Guilford House is primarily a short term care facility. The average stay for patients is 16 days; however, they also offer assisted care at The Roses.

The Guilford House has 75 beds in their skilled nursing facility, 27 of which are private and 23 of which are semi private. Short term care is offered every day of the week at The Guilford House. Patients can work with massage therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists to assist with their recovery. In most cases, patients get two sessions of occupational and physical therapy each day, with one session on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Guilford House has a nursing department complete with licensed practical nurses, registered nurses, and certified nursing assistants. This department is in charge of clinical programs for each patient. Typically, there are 4-6 registered nurses on staff per day.

The Roses at Guilford House is an assisted living facility for elderly people who need some medical and day-to-day assistance, but who want to maintain their independence. Studio, deluxe studio, and one bedroom apartments are available for residents.

Recent Violation to Consider

The Guilford House offers many resources for residents and patients, but it does have some issues. For example, this facility received a 2017 violation of Connecticut General Statutes.

In Early 2017, a resident was being closely monitored for pain and anxiety, and given medication at consistent intervals. One day, the resident complained of pain in their leg. When transferred to a hospital, it was determined that the resident had suffered several fractures in their leg. The resident ultimately died as a result of complications of these injuries. The cause of these injuries was never determined, but the fractures were a result of trauma.

As a result of this issue, The Guilford House was fined $1,530. This was a violation of Class B of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies.
