Nursing Home Violation

Despite these services, River Glen Healthcare Center has received two recent Public Health Code violations. It is important to consider this before choosing this home for your loved one.

In 2017, a resident at this facility suffered a fall due to improper care. The resident was supposed to walk using a rolling walker and/or gait belt, because that resident had issues with balance.

One day, a staff member was helping the resident in the bathroom without the use of the walker or the gait belt. As the staff member tried to help the resident back to their bed, the resident tripped and both the resident and staff member lost their balance. The resident fell and hit their head, also complaining of leg pain. Because of the fall, the resident suffered a left femur fracture.

The second violation occurred in 2017 as well. A medication error occurred for another resident, who was given the wrong dosage of a medication. This causes issues such as dizziness, nausea, and a slowed heartbeat. The resident was taken to the hospital where the transcription issue and medication error were discovered.

These issues resulted in a $3,470 fine for the facility.
