Watch Out For Violations
Before choosing a facility, you should always inquire about or research violations that the home has received. This can help you prepare and weigh the pros and cons of a facility before deciding on it.
Despite Monsignor Bojnowski Manor’s benefits, the facility did receive a violation in 2018. In 2018, a resident at the facility developed a pressure ulcer, also known as a bedsore. There was not documentation to prove that the staff “offloaded” the resident’s heels, which would help in the prevention of the pressure ulcer getting worse. Preventative skin prep to prevent future ulcers from forming was also discontinued for this resident.
Another resident developed a similar problem. it was determined that they were at risk for skin breakdown, or pressure ulcers. The staff were required to take preventative measures to help prevent the formation of such ulcers.
Documentation could not be provided to prove that some of these preventative measures were taken and ultimately, the resident developed a pressure ulcer.
These issues constituted a Class B violation of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies. Monsignor Bojnowski Manor was subsequently fined $3,260.
