As you search for a rehabilitation or care facility for an elderly loved one, you might come across Cheshire Regional Rehabilitation Center. This facility is located in Cheshire, Connecticut. On this page, I will discuss the pros and cons of this facility. This can help you and your family make a decision when it comes to this rehabilitation center.

Violations

First, let’s start with the bad. Cheshire Regional Rehabilitation Center did receive a violation in 2017. This violation was the result of improper feeding and monitoring of a resident.

It was determined that this resident could not eat food on their own, due to choking and other risks. All food was supposed to be administered by the staff. In addition, the resident was not allowed to be anywhere with food in reach.

The resident was left unmonitored in the dining room and ended up eating several dinner rolls without help. This resulted in the resident coughing and throwing up the dinner rolls.

Having the resident eat or have access to food on their own was a safety hazard. As a result, the rehabilitation center violated Public Health Code Section 19-13-Dt8 (j)(2) and/or (m)(2), as well as Connecticut General Statutes 19a-550. This is considered a class B violation, and it resulted in a $3,000 fine.
