What to Watch Out For

Despite these positive services and assistance for the elderly, Chelsea Place Care Center is not perfect. In 2018, they received a citation for violating the Connecticut General Statues Section 19a-527.

In 2016, a resident was admitted to the facility after a suicide attempt. The resident worked with the facility to overcome their addiction and suicidal thoughts. They were discharged, however, a plan for follow ups was not part of the discharge plan. The resident died of an overdose in 2016.

In accordance with Connecticut General Statute, this resulted in a fine of $1,500 to the facility.

Another fine was imposed for a 2017 violation. This fine was for $1,920.

A resident had a physically and verbally violent outburst towards another resident. Later, there was an incident where the resident claimed that a staff member attacked them. The staff members claims that they hit the resident in self defense, as the resident was choking the staff member. However, the staff member also claimed never to have touched the resident, so they gave inconsistent accounts of the event. After an investigation, the staff member was terminated.
