Nursing Home Violations
Nursing homes are regulated by the State, and they are subject to fines in the event of violations. Cassena Care at New Britain did receive a fine in 2018 due to a violation issue.
The incident occurred in 2018. A resident passed stool containing a very large blood clot, and their vitals were abnormal. The resident was monitored and eventually sent to an acute care facility.
An interview with a staff member revealed that they can’t remember when or if they were notified of this issue, and that had they been notified, they would have sent the resident to the acute care facility right away.
This issue constituted a Class B violation and resulted in a fine of $1,530.
Choosing a Care Facility
As you can see, this facility has its benefits and drawbacks. While the facility can treat and manage a plethora of medical issues, they also did receive a recent fine for a violation. All of these factors should be considered before choosing the nursing home as a care option for your loved one.
