Public Health Code Violation

Despite the useful services and amenities that are offered at Arden House, the facility received violations for several issues with residents in 2017.

The first issue occurred with a resident who sustained an injury to their arm as a result of a staff member pulling a call bell away from them. The staff member was ultimately terminated as a result of the incident.

The second issue occurred because a resident was admitted with two pressure ulcers, also known as bedsores. While these wounds already existed when the resident was admitted, after admittance, the wounds got worse. Proper care was not given to prevent the bedsores from getting any worse.

The third issue occurred when a resident fell out of their wheelchair at the facility. It was noted that that resident had difficulty standing and walking and was at risk for falling. The resident fell out of their wheelchair near the nurses station because proper help was not given. The fall resulted in some injuries to the face.

Finally, the fourth issue concerned a resident who was not eating and drinking the proper amount. This resident was at risk for malnutrition and dehydration, but the staff was not properly tracking their inputs and outputs. This put the resident at further risk of dehydration and malnutrition.

These violations ultimately resulted in a $3,660 fine for the facility.
